In 1979, Garo Nichanian founded Dataworld in Montreal. He had spent years inside the computer divisions of ICL, Honeywell and Xerox of Canada, and he saw the micro-computing wave coming before most of the market did. Dataworld started by supplying corporate users of mainframe and dedicated word-processing systems, then grew into a value-added distributor and authorized reseller for the manufacturers that defined the industry.
