Dataworld

Privacy Policy

Effective June 3, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Dataworld (Canada) Inc. ("Dataworld", "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information through our website. As a Quebec enterprise, we are subject to Quebec's Law 25 (the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector) and to Canada's federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). We are committed to handling your personal information responsibly and only for the purposes described below.

Our website is a public product catalogue and a lead generation tool. It is not an online store. There is no account, no shopping cart, no checkout, and no online payment on this website. The only actions available to you are to submit a quote request ("Request a Quote") or to send us a message through our contact form. Submitting a request is not an order and does not create a binding contract. This document is a review draft and is not legal advice.

1. Who we are

Dataworld (Canada) Inc. is a Canadian B2B information technology and audiovisual reseller, founded in 1979 and based in Quebec. We operate this website to present product information and to receive quote and contact requests from prospective and existing business customers.

You can reach us at:

  • Dataworld (Canada) Inc., 247 Dunbar, Suite 100, Mont-Royal, Quebec H3P 2H4, Canada
  • Telephone: (514) 738-6350 (toll-free 1-800-561-1851)

2. What personal information we collect

We collect only the personal information that you provide to us and a limited amount of standard technical data needed to operate the website securely. Specifically:

Information you provide through the quote request and contact forms:

  • Your name (contact name)
  • Your email address
  • Your telephone number (optional)
  • Your company name
  • The content of your message or inquiry
  • The product or products you are interested in (description and part number) and the quantity
  • Your language preference
  • The web page from which your request was sent (source URL), and marketing campaign parameters (UTM tags) if they are present in the link you followed

Information collected automatically: Our web servers may record standard technical data in their logs, such as your IP address, browser type, and the date and time of access. This data is used to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the website.

What we do not collect: Because there are no transactions, accounts, or payments on this website, we do not collect any payment card or financial information, and we do not collect or store any passwords.

3. Why we collect it (purposes)

We use the personal information described above only for the following purposes:

  • To receive, understand, and respond to your quote and contact requests
  • To prepare and provide you with a quotation, including following up with you about it
  • To communicate with you about your inquiry and in the language you prefer
  • To keep ordinary business records related to our communications and quotations
  • To operate, secure, and maintain the website

We use your personal information only for these purposes. We do not use it to build advertising profiles, and we never sell it.

4. Consent

When you submit a quote request or contact form, you consent to our collecting and using the personal information in that form for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. By submitting the form, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you are authorized to provide it (for example, on behalf of your company).

You may withdraw your consent at any time, as described in the section on your rights below. Withdrawing your consent does not affect any processing we carried out before the withdrawal, and it may mean we are no longer able to respond to your request or provide a quotation.

5. Who we share it with (service providers)

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not disclose it to other companies for their own purposes without your consent. We do rely on a small number of trusted service providers (sometimes called processors or sub-processors) that handle personal information on our behalf and under our instructions, strictly to operate the website and to deliver and store your requests:

  • Supabase: database hosting for the quote and contact requests (leads)
  • Resend, together with Amazon Web Services and Amazon Simple Email Service (Amazon SES): delivery of notification emails generated by your request
  • Vercel: website hosting and cookieless analytics

These providers are authorized to process your personal information only as needed to provide their services to us and are required to protect it. We may also disclose personal information where required by law or to protect our rights, for example in response to a valid legal request.

Product and catalogue data on this website is supplied to us by Ingram Micro. Ingram Micro provides product information to us; it does not receive your personal information through this website.

6. Storage and processing outside Quebec (cross-border disclosure)

Some of the service providers listed above may store or process your personal information outside the province of Quebec, including in the United States. As a result, your personal information may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions, including lawful access by foreign authorities.

Before disclosing personal information outside Quebec, we conduct an assessment as required by Law 25 and take reasonable steps so that the information receives protection that is adequate in the circumstances, including through contractual commitments with our service providers. If you have questions about these transfers, you may contact our Privacy Officer using the details in the contact section below.

7. Cookies and analytics

We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking cookies on this website, and we do not build personal advertising profiles.

For website analytics we use Vercel Analytics, which is cookieless and aggregate. It helps us understand overall website usage (for example, which pages are visited) without identifying individual visitors and without creating personal profiles. Because this analytics is cookieless and aggregate, it does not require a consent banner.

Any cookies used on the website are limited to those that are strictly necessary to make the website function properly and secure. We do not use cookies for advertising or third-party tracking.

8. How we protect your information (security)

We use reasonable, industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect personal information against loss, theft, and unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, or modification. These measures include access controls and the use of reputable hosting and email providers that maintain their own security practices.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so while we work to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. How long we keep it (retention)

We keep personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, to maintain ordinary business records relating to your inquiry or quotation, and to meet our legal and accounting obligations.

When personal information is no longer needed for these purposes, we delete it or anonymize it in accordance with our retention practices and applicable law. If you would like more information about our retention periods, please contact our Privacy Officer.

10. Your rights

Subject to the conditions and exceptions provided by Law 25 and PIPEDA, you have the following rights with respect to the personal information we hold about you:

  • Access: you may ask us to confirm whether we hold personal information about you and to obtain access to it
  • Rectification: you may ask us to correct personal information that is inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date
  • Withdrawal of consent: you may withdraw your consent to our use of your personal information, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice

To exercise any of these rights, please contact our Privacy Officer using the details below. We may ask you to verify your identity before responding, and we will reply within the timeframe required by applicable law.

11. Person responsible for the protection of personal information

Dataworld has designated a person responsible for the protection of personal information, who oversees our compliance with applicable privacy law and handles requests and questions about your personal information.

We encourage you to contact our Privacy Officer first so that we can address any concern about how we handle your personal information.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec (the CAI), which oversees compliance with Quebec's private-sector privacy law. You may contact the CAI directly for more information about your rights and how to file a complaint.
