- Which sensors does a server room need?
- Start with temperature and humidity at the front of your racks, where the equipment draws in its cooling air. Add leak detection under cooling units, below raised floors and anywhere water lines run nearby, then door sensors on the racks and the room itself. Larger rooms add airflow and dew point sensing to catch cooling problems before they become outages.
- Leak detection cable or spot flood sensor: what is the difference?
- A flood sensor watches a single point, such as the floor below a cooling unit. A leak detection cable runs along the floor and raises an alert wherever along its length it gets wet, which suits long rows of racks or a raised floor. Many rooms use both: cable along the rows, spot sensors at the likeliest sources.
- Do these sensors need a monitoring unit?
